Question : Cannot print to an HP LaserJet 1200 Printer in Terminal Server

Briefly, I have PC1 sharing out an HP LJ 1200. PC2 prints to this printer as well. they both print fine locally but fail printing in TS. The job never even spools in TS
I have another PC “PC3” that has an HP 1012 locally attached. It prints fine in TS.

Please see this question I just closed out. it pertains to the same Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server.

I NEED TO KNOW
-      Is the HP LaserJet 1200 supported in Windows 2003 server “Terminal Server” ?
-      Is the HP LaserJet 4200dn network printer 1200 supported in Windows 2003 server “Terminal Server” using TCPIP printing?

I have a call open with Microsoft but I am getting absolutely nowhere with their support. It’s been an awful experience which I just don’t want to get into. Where have all the great Microsoft support experts gone?

Microsoft cannot give me a clear answer. they tell me that all HP printers are support but at a limited capacity. I'm OK with "limited capacity". I just want to make it print

Is there anything I need to check on the TS server?
Is there a printer test I can forward to the local HP 1200 from the server itself. Currently I don’t have access to the TS, otherwise I would try to run notepad and print it.
What should I look for on the TS server other then confirm the HP LaserJet printer driver is loaded on the TS server?

Answer : Cannot print to an HP LaserJet 1200 Printer in Terminal Server

the software looks useful, and while i haven't tested it, it looks like it'd work fine.  it's $99 for 5 connections, unclear if a "connection" is a workstation, or each printer on a workstation, so might get expensive.

things i don't like about it, is, i had to register and verify an email address just to see the documentation (500kb pdf).  thankfully there exists mailinator.com

some of their software (terminal server pro and others) intentionally violate MS licensing rules, for example making sbs and xp able to host multiple simultaneous inbound remote desktop connections.  they don't tell you that they're replacing several DLL files with cracked versions, and violating your EULA, voiding your MS support.

but the universal printer they offer probably would work ok.

it might be easier to just get the server guys to install the right driver.  if your client has the 1200 PCL5 driver, and the server has 1200PCL6 or PS, then the server doesn't have the driver installed.
