Question : Subinterface Ovarlaps problem for 10.0.0.0 Ip ranges

Hi
i am trying to do Routing between vlan via Router on a stick
so i have done bellow
as you can see, its not taking allowing 10.0.10.1 on sub interface

but if i configure this with
192.168.1.1 for 0/0
192.168.10.1 for 0/0.10
192.168.20.1 for 0/0.20

its works
so why it will not work for 10.0.0.0 series
thanks

Answer : Subinterface Ovarlaps problem for 10.0.0.0 Ip ranges

You need to specify a /24 mask instead of a /8 mask for each of your interfaces. Use 255.255.255.0 instead of 255.0.0.0

This sequence should work....

Router(config)#interface fastEthernet 0/0
Router(config-if)#ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
Router(config)#interface fastEthernet 0/0.10
Router(config-subif)#encapsulation dot1Q 10
Router(config-subif)#ip address 10.0.10.1 255.255.255.0
Router(config-subif)#exit
Router(config)#interface fastEthernet 0/0.20
Router(config-subif)#encapsulation dot1Q 20
Router(config-subif)#ip address 10.0.20.0 255.25.255.0
Router(config-subif)#
