Question : APC UPS Protect Computer Cable Connection APC 1250VA

I purchased a new computer system and an UPS  APC brand with 1250 VA and 10 outlets.

Since I live in such a high lightning storm area I figured that it would make sense to protect my computer not only from electrical surges from the AC  but also from the Cable Modem/Router but I am not sure of the logic of the UPS.  What I was thinking of doing was plugging the router out into the UPS and then using another ethernet cable, going from the UPS to the ethernet connection on the computer.

Is this possible and if so where on the back of the unit do I connect the cables in  and out..?

Also since I just got the APC unit and installed the battery, does it need to charge before I plug anything into the APC ?

Answer : APC UPS Protect Computer Cable Connection APC 1250VA

the wire could go from the router to "network in".. and then another wire from "network out" to your computer, that would work

the coax cable could go from the wall to the coax port on the battery backup, and then another coax cable from the cable modem to the 2nd coax port on the battery backup

obviously the computer's electrical wire would go into the battery backup plug (identified as battery backup not just surge-only)

the special wire that came with it, that has an rj45 connector on one end, and usb on the other, would go from the "data" port on the battery backup to any usb port on your computer
