Question : Microsoft Security Essentials Has Detected Problems. How Do I Verify If Their Findings Should Be Removed?

My PC is an HP e9150t quad core desktop using an Intel i7 CPU ([email protected] GHz). I have 8 GB of RAM and am running Windows 7 Home Premium-64-Bit. It was purchased new from HP, in July 2009. The Microsoft products I am running include the 2007 versions of Outlook, Word, and Excel.

After running Microsoft Security Essentials, it found a number of medium or severe issues. How do I determined for sure that these should be deleted, rather than if they are somehow connected to a legitimate application I have?

Thanks.

Answer : Microsoft Security Essentials Has Detected Problems. How Do I Verify If Their Findings Should Be Removed?

as you can see at the bottom of your application you have  file locations displayed and for example that first one you selected is related to your Java application.
I doubt that MSE will remove anything that is needed so just go ahead and delete everything. Also go to malwarebytes.org and install their application and see what it finds as it's much better at detecting threats than MSE

After your clear your machine make sure you update java, flash and adobe reader software on your machine
