Question : Exchange 2010 new-mailbox fails
I'm trying to learn Exchange 2010 and setup a lab environment with some VMs. After installing Exchange 2010 I can create mailboxes for existing users without a problem. I can create mail contacts and distribution groups without a problem. But I cannot create a mailbox for a new user regardless of the type. From my understanding doing this is suposed to create the AD user object for me. I get a weird powershell error type error when going through the GUI. So I jumped to the exchange shell and tried the new-mailbox command with basic arguments.
I get the message below. Any ideas what could be going wrong?
Exception calling "GetSteppablePipeline" with "1" argument(s): The type initializer for 'Microsoft.Exchange.Manage
ment.Recip
ientTasks.

Answer : Exchange 2010 new-mailbox fails
ADWS was not running on the domain controler. This was preventing Exchange from creating the AD user account.
