Question : Clearing free space in windows vista
I have a windows vista ultimate, service pack 2, hosting a sql server 2008 database.
The box has 139GB of space with only 3GB remaining unused.
I have clicked properties on every directory in the root C: drive and the largest directory is the Windows directory at around 18GB. The others are far below that, but none of them added up is anywhere near the 136GB mark.
I cannot seem to find what directory is eating up all that space so that I can clean it up.
The disk defrag is set to run every Wednesday and ran today on schedule. I've run the disk cleanup, and the largest files in there are the temp files at only 350 MB.
I can see the hidden directories in the root drive, so I don't believe something is hidden from me.
Any ideas what is eating up the space and how I can find it and clean it up. I'm soon running out of space. This machine hardly has anything on it, but yet appears to have something huge on it.
thanks!
