Question : Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8 as External Drive
I recently purchased an empty USB2 IDE enclosure that I want to use with my laptop to back up files. The device is recognized in Device Manager as well as the drive. I can populate the device but it is not found under My Computer and no files or folders can be seen. The drive is known good since I can plug it into my W2K Server as an internal drive. Can this drive be configured as an external device?
I am running XP Pro on a Compaq V2000 laptop. I know the USB ports are fine cause I can plug other devices into them with no problems. I tried another DiamondMax Plus 8 drive I have and it has the same problems. I have tried every known jumper config I can find.
Thanks,
