Question : Mounting EDB to another test system

I have Exchange 2000 in my live production environment, I have taken copy of live EDB and STM files and trying to mount to the test system which is off the network and have exactly same naming convention as live.

I have created Recovery Storage Group on test system and mounted that EDB under RSG, now i am trying to run exmerge in order to retreive one of the mailbox but i am getting following error and it is now showing me any of the mailbox under mailbox list as well.

here is the error message:

"An error was encountered when retrieving the list of mailboxes homed in the selected database on server...."
