Question : Lexmark e260dn toner light won't go out

I have an almost-new Lexmark e260dn printer.  Rather than replacing the toner with a very expensive cartridge, I just bought a refill kit cheap and refilled the factory cartridge myself.  I now have a full cartridge of toner, but I can't get the toner light to go out.  How do I reset that?  I've already opened the door and held down the "Cancel" button until all the lights flash in sequence back and forth, which is supposed to reset the page count -- that didn't do it.

Answer : Lexmark e260dn toner light won't go out

I am not 100% for certain on this model of printer, but I know on some other makes/models the toner cartdridge has a small chip at one end. This is read by the machine and has a memory. Unless the physical cartdridge is replaced, you will get this symptom. I am not for sure exactly how the chip works, if it has a meter count it keeps track of or if it uses a serial number and once the light comes on it will not reset until it detects a different serial number.
