Question : VMware VCenter 4.0 inline upgrade into 4.1 in production

Hi All,

I'm about to do the VCenter 4.0u1 upgrade only into 4.1 on my vsphere infrastructure, the rest of the ESXi can just stay at 4.0u1 since there is no performance / big improvement at all.

I'm running:
Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 SP2 x64
SQL Server 2008 Standard SP1 x64

is there anything that i should be paying attention before performing inline upgrade of the VCenter 4.0u1 into 4.1 in the production environment ?

any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,
JJ

Answer : VMware VCenter 4.0 inline upgrade into 4.1 in production

Hi JJ...I highly recommend looking at the Upgrade Center at VMware's site:
http://www.vmware.com/products/vsphere/upgrade-center/resources.html

Typically...VMware upgrades are fairly straight forward, but you obviously want to take the proper precaustions. You should back up your vCenter DB before upgrading, as well as make sure you have a current b/u of all your VMs. Once that is done, just follow the upgrade videos or the upgrade guide in the URL I provided.
