Question : Blu-Ray movies do not display full-screen

I just installed a Plextor PX-B320SA Blu-Ray CD/DVD player in my Windows 7 Media Center PC.  With standard DVDs, movies play in full screen @ 1920x1080 (Hfreq 660kHz/Vfreq 60Hz).  With Blu-Ray DVDs, the movies play but there are black bands at the top and bottom of the video image which appear to take up about 1/4 to 1/3 of the vertical range.

I also note that Windows 7 Ultimate does not come with Blu-Ray codecs and so I am forced to use Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 and codecs that came with that application in order to watch BD disks.

Does anyone have any experience with this?  I would like to be able to watch BD disk in full-screen and use Media Center instead of PowerDVD, even if that means I need to purchase codecs... assuming there are WMC BD codecs available... (why didn't Microsoft include BD codecs with Win7 anyway?)

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

Download the K-lite codec pack from the link below, this should include all the codecs you need to play anything, after installing I would recommend you use media player basic (it should be on your PC) as it seems to play everything better than media player full
