Question : Why Read-only powerpoint 2007 file is editable in Powerpoint 2003

I create a powerpoint file in 2007, and apply password protected. When open it under PP2007, it will prompt for password, or else user can only go to Read Only mode.

But when using Powerpoint 2003 to open the same file, there was no password prompted, although the file name on the top show "####.PPTX (Read Only)", it is in fact editable.

It seems 2003 crash the security features in 2007 file. How can I prevent that ?   Thank you.

You can't automatically avoid all of MFC, but you can provide a list of classes or functions to avoid (like CString). Here's the registry section: (The 10.0 is for VS2010. It will be different for earlier versions of Visual Studio)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\NativeDE\StepOver
