Question : NETWARE 5.1 - HOW TO RUN MULTIPLE FRAME TYPES

I just setup a new Netware 5.1 server with 150 users.
All users connect fine.
When I run "config" on the NEW server console it shows frame type 802.2

Problem - the network uses a group of legacy DOS based phone dialers. The dialers behave properly for about 1.5 hours and then crap out. Reboot the dialers and they run again for about 1.5 hours and then crap out again.

When I run "config" on the OLD server console it shows multiple frame types 802.2, 802.3, and a few more.

QUESTION: How can I change the configuration to run multiple frame types?

I believe that by including the addition frame types my dialer issues will be resolved.

Answer : NETWARE 5.1 - HOW TO RUN MULTIPLE FRAME TYPES

Load Inetcfg.nlm

goto Bindings, press Enter
Press Insert, select Protocol IPX, press Enter
Select the network interface - Select a configured Network interface

Choose a IPX network number for the new frame type, and select the new frame type.

The default frame type for IPX on Netware 3.12 and below is Ethernet_802.3
The default frame type for IPX on Netware 4 and up is Ethernet_802.2
The default frame type for IP is Ethernet_II

It may very well be that your problem will be solved by adding the 802.3 frame type, as that is the "old" default.
