Question : Backup: Test the TRA backup

Hi,
1) The company has TRA backup ("Turbo Restore Appliance"?) every 15 minutes
2) A consultant suggested to do the "Test"  (whether it is working)
3) One of the Data is at a "Server abc"
-It is at C:\ ...............................\DATA
4) The Consultant instructed to put a "testing text file" at the "DATA" and edit it for a day or 2 days after.....say it
-The text file is testing.txt (put a sentence in it)
-Then after one or 2 days; edit the sentence again ...
5) I am still confused with the GOAL of this testing
6) Would somebody explain please?

Yes, because when he checks the backup image from the 25th, it will say this is July 25th.  When he checks the backup image on the 27th or 28th, the text file should be changed to This is July 27th.  This way, if someone made changes to a file, but you need the old revision, you can go back to the 25th backup to retrieve the unmodified file.  Does this make sense?
