Question : Remotely control desktop

We have a PC that sits in a locked server room. It is connected to a big flat screen tv in the lobby of the office. The receptionist needs to be able to remotely log in to the PC and load presentations that will play on the tv. MSTSC isn't an option because you won't see the RDP session on the monitor. We've tried a couple of different VNC products and they have been unreliable. Any other suggestions?

Answer : Remotely control desktop

There are MANY, MANY remote control options.  How has VNC been unreliable?  I've used it for YEARS and never found it unreliable.  But if you need something "more" reliable, there are plenty of products you can buy.  PC Anywhere, DameWare, Timbuktu (I think is still around) and I'm sure MANY others.  Using a service like LogMeIn or GoToMyPC would likely be unwise since the connection is made through the internet - your overall speed - even though the two machines are (I assume) on the same LAN, would drop down to the slowest aspect of the speed of your internet connection.  (and by slowest aspect I mean upload connection speed is usually the slowest).  If the files transferred are small, then it's not a big deal, but if they are larger, then you could have issues doing that.
