Question : Group Policy even ID 1030 and 1058
I am getting this on a sbs 2003 server showing up a lot lately.
in the event logs the 1058 first
Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945
F-00C04FB9
84F9},CN=P
olicies,CN
=System,DC
=finance,D
C=local. The file must be present at the location <\\finance.local\sysvol\fi
nance.loca
l\Policies
\{31B2F340
-016D-11D2
-945F-00C0
4FB984F9}\
gpt.ini>. (Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. ). Group Policy processing aborted.
then right after the 1030
Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine that describes the reason for this.
I have been digging around for some time trying to figure this one out. looks like it is happening with only one users
any suggestion.
thanks experts.
Answer : Group Policy even ID 1030 and 1058
If it is only for one user, see if the error follows the user or stays with the machine. Have a known good user sign onto the errored user's computer. Also, have the errored user sign onto a known good computer. Post results.
