Question : Hosted 2008 R2 Branche Cache client OS requirements?
Good day,
I am having WAN bandwidth issue and have been exploring deploying Branche Cache using a head office file server with 2008 R2 and a branch office file server also using 2008 R2.
If I implement Hosted Banch Cache on the 2 file servers, do the client PC's also need to be running Windows 7? Or by using the Hosted configuration on the servers do I skip the Windows 7 requirement?
I have read the branch Cache deployment white paper but it is not clear if the client computers need to be configured to use a Hosted Cahce server, and if it is restricted to Windows 7 PCs only.
There is a VPN between the 2 sites that uses split tunelling.
There is a heavy amount of collaboration between the 2 sites so I have not implemented DFSR for fear of files being overwritten.
TIA!

If you want to use that feature you (unfortunately) need to Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 clients. Sorry.
