Question : Can't type and can't get double click to work in Windows XP
Weird problem with a Windows XP laptop that I've never run into before. The laptop was brought in by a client and was infested with viruses and spyware. The laptop has been completely cleaned up and all updates installed.
The laptop will not let you type in any field at all. Can't type in Run, Notepad, IE7. Laptop just beeps when you try to type into an input field. I hooked up USB keyboard to laptop but same thing happens when typing. It's not a hardware problem, but problem with XP.
Also, the laptop will not open programs when double clicking. You have to actually right click on an icon and go to Open to get a program to run. I've reset all the mouse properties, but doesn't change anything.....I'm pretty sure some registry entries have gotten messed up.
Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks,
Mike
