Question : Why can I not connect to a functional website with Firefox?

I have Firefox 3.5.11 running on an IMAC 10.5.8. I can connect to a specific website with Safari but when I try to connect with
Firefox I get a blank screen with "Done" in the far left bottom corner.  This site requests a username and password to enter.  
Is there some configuration in Firefox that I need to change? It appears to work with all the other sites I have attempted to connect to.  Thanks

Do you have proxy settings setup in Firefox that you don't have in Safari?
