Question : Adding local storage to ESX 3.5

I'm trying to add some local storage to my ESX 3.5 server.
When I go to the add storage wizard in ESX I get two options, Disk/LUN and Network. When I go to Disk/LUN nothing shows up. Just an option to put in my SAN Identifier.
The server is a Dell PowerEdge r300 and the Local storage is an external vantec nexstar MX dual bay under a RAID 1.
I've tried connecting this thing using both the eSATA and the USB. I'm assuming if everything was working correctly it would show up in the list when I click DISK/LUN.
I have had trouble getting Dell servers to run the Nexstar case's via SATA because Dell see's it a third party RAID controller and has locked out third party RAID controllers via the BIOS. I no longer buy Dell servers because of this issue. I've also read where VMWare ESX will see USB drives but won't be able to use them. Any advice on how to get this drive to work would be great.

Answer : Adding local storage to ESX 3.5

USB is not supported in ESX..not even in the newest version (mostly). So, the question comes into play is how are you connecting your storage. If you're not seeing it in the Add Storage wizard, ESX doesn't support the connection method of your storage.
