Question : Trying to connect to the server using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
Every computer in our office can connect to our production SQL Server( 'system'\'SQLSERVER2005' on public ip x.x.x.x) which is located at Rackspace.com, except our new database server which is Windows 2008 server and MS SQL Server Management Studio 2005. I am assisting the DB admin on this so I am admittedly not very familiar with SQL and the management studio. I am not sure what I am missing here. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Answer : Trying to connect to the server using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
I figured it out. Our new db server goes out over the internet on a different ip than our pc's. Rackspace had to allow the ports from that public ip.
