Question : How to diagnose hard disk physical & logical errors  ?


 We have a Dell server which has 6 physical drives.

The drives are configured using RAID

OS is configured with RAID 1
Data drives are configured with RAID 5

We are getting some disk drive errors.


1.  How do I know if the disk errors are related to physical disk or logical disk ?

2.  Physical disk errors can be fixed ,either by replacing the drives after backing up data,
     now if its a logical error, how to fix it ?

3.  Can there be a logical disk error due to improper RAID configuration of the drives ?

4. Can there be a logical disk error due to incompatibility between hardware drives ?

5.  hardware is 64-bit , Operating system we have loaded is Microsoft Windows 2008 (32-bit).

6. How to diagnose if there is any RAID corruption or any logical disk issues ?
