Question : Windows 7 Professional 64 bit hanging on Welcome Screen

I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on a domain using SPS 2003.
When I start in normal mode, the computer hangs after login at the welcome screen.
I eventually have to power off the computer.
Start up repair has not helped.
I can reboot it in safe mode with networking.  When I run msconfig, turn off all the startup items, and reboot, the computer still hangs at the welcome screen.
When I reboot in safe mode, look in the event viewer system log, and check what happened during the hang, the last information report before errors begin is:

The Network Location Awareness service entered the running state. (
Last Information.)

The first error message is:

-DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service TermService
with arguments "" in order to run the server:

Other things about my situation-
Windows is running under Bootcamp on an 8-core Mac Pro running Snow Leopard.
The computer connects to the domain across a station to station VPN (Netgear) which is stable and I can see the other computers on the domain in safe mode with networking.  I don't think the Mac or VPN elements are relevant, but I am including them for completeness and in case someone else has a different point of view.

Answer : Windows 7 Professional 64 bit hanging on Welcome Screen

I don't think it can do anything with Mac OS as the cross platform will prevent this. Viruses are dangerous but not that clever. It can be Mebroot but no 100% guarantee of that. Eset once died on me when virus came from a infected side. PC and data on it was ruined. Since then I use Avira + Malwarebytes.
As I said in previous comment, the most complicated thing is your HDD. It is GPT and you cannot easily get it out of machine and connect as external to another system. Thus your quickest and easiest way is to reinstall.
Also you can backup current HDD to restore it later to another HDD and scan that drive as external drive when Windows is reinstalled. I recently took image of my BootCamp configuration (MacOS Snow Leo and Windows 7 Enterprise) and did restore that using Paragon Drive Backup WinPE Recovery CD. Had to use reEfit to retain the drive again but it works. So get that CD and do a backup first. Then you can reinstall the OS.
