I work for an IT company and we have won a large contract to take over the IT needs for a large company.
It has been requested that the network be "Optimized" and newer technologies I.E. virtualization be taken advantage of in order to reduce costs.
The enviroment we are looking at virtualizing as much as possible:
Background Information: 26 Windows 2003 Standard Servers (All HP DL380 rackmount Servers) 1 Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise w/ SCCM 3 Remote Sites + 1 Local (All Sites connected with 7xT1 pipes) (All Sites can Ping and Talk) The current common storage is setup with DFS shares Each site is configured with 2xDC's and 2xFileServers. DC1 - DHCP DC2 - AD FS1 - DFS FS2 - Printing/ETC...
The main site consists of the above plus: 1xExchange Server (Used as a Voicemail Server for CISCO UNITY) 2xCisco CallManager (Primary, and Backup) 1xCisco Unity 1xWindows 2008 R2 Enterprise server with SCCM R2 2007 1xWebsense 6xIndividual App Servers
All servers are rackmount HP servers fairly new.
The company is not going to be getting any larger currently has about 1200 users, generally no more than 600 logged on at any 1 time.
What would be the recommendations of the community about how to approach virtualizing this network.
Any and all insights, applicable knowledge and experience on similiar situations would be greatly appreciated.
