Question : Replaced motherboard did XP Repair Now cd key invalid.

I have a system with a oem install of XP Pro, unsure of the manufacture. There are no markings on the pc other than oem sticker.
I replaced the motherboard and windows wouldn't boot keeps blue screening on me.
Since 90% of the hardware was onboard the motherboard and has now changed I figured thats why windows is freaking out.
So I do a repair using a xp cd I had laying around (none came with the PC I have). The CD I used has been sitting around for years so im unsure where I got it and have lost the key for it but its retail version. I figured I was just doing a repair of another xp pro os it wouldn't matter just fix files and boot up with old key and where good...

Well after setup copies files it boots up and asks for a product key... The oem one will not work so now im stuck with this install screen and no way to get past it. I am not getting into windows at all just the screen that shows how long you have until its finished installing.

I am unsure where to go at this point. If I could just get past this screen and then do a change to the oem key I should be legit as both are XP pro not sure why repair causes you to have to reenter the product key.

Any suggestions as to how to get out of the mess im stuck in.

well, if you're still at it... one of these generic keycodes will work.  they're provided by microsoft for situations like this.  they wont activate, but they'll get you installed so you can change the key later
