Question : Access - timed backup from a batch file

Hi,

I have tried running a timed back up from a batch file from my computer - using the shared drive locations.

Unfortunately, since the db is on a shared network drive, I am unable to successfully run the batch from my remote computer.

Are there any other suggestions as to how to time a database back-up from a shared, external, network location. We cannot install external applications or programs since it is a corporate network system.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer : Access - timed backup from a batch file

If it's "timed" (as you say), then why would you need to run it from your PC?

(Backups should really run unattended, I mean, suppose you were off one day?)
;-)

Why can't this DB get scheduled to be backed up along with all the other corporate files?
For example I have DB's on a shared network drive, and the Network drive gets backed up twice daily (scheduled).

We use Backup Exec:
http://www.symantec.com/business/products/family.jsp?familyid=backupexec
It has dozens of Options for Drives, Permissions, scheduling intervals, Restore,...etc

There are dozens of products like this available.
