Question : Can you connect SATA disks externally to a RAID controller that has no e.sata connectors?

Hi Team,

I plan to buy a low profile ADAPTEC 2410SA / 1961900-R 4 PORT RAID  PCI CARD which has 4 SATA connectors for regular SATA drives.  My concern is that I cannot put 4 drives in my desktop but I do have an old external disk enclosure which I can rig up to accommodate 4 SATA drives.  My question is, can I cable the 4 drives externally (one SATA cable per drive) and hook them up to this RAID controller?  The RAID controllerĀ“s connectors are for SATA and not for e.sata.  As I understand, it should still work and all I just need to do is provide the external power to the drives and turn the drive enclosure on BEFORE I turn on the PC with the RAID controller so that the drives will be available as the PC boots up.

Will this setup work? Just wanted a specialist to confirm this before I buy the RAID card.

Thanks for any help.

Try Avenger... failing this, yes it's a wise to reformat and start again.

Please download The Avenger2 by Swandog46 to your Desktop.

Right click on the Avenger.zip folder and select "Extract All..."
Follow the prompts and extract the avenger folder to your desktop

*Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  *Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

Start up Avenger.
Check the 'Input script manually' option.
Click the Magnifying Glass icon.
In the box that opens, copy, then paste the following text(all text inside the lines below):
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Files to delete:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\97259392.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\9725939.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\97259391.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\xmjndlpq.sys
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then click on 'Done'.
Click the Traffic Light icon to start the program.
Then press OK at the prompts to reboot your PC.
Post the Avenger output.txt, which you can find at C:\Avenger\.txt when you've done.
