Question : Domino 8.5.2 Upgrade from 8.5.1 on Server 2008 R2 64 Bit

Hi Experts,

Got a real good one for you here, just got the latest domino server 8.5.2 from our IBM passport site, all licensed etc. Ran the upgrade as usual by running the installer and followed the defaults etc etc it said it had installed successfully.

When we rebooted, we noticed the domino server service had not started, on attempt to start we were shown this error message "the service could not start, please check the event viewer for further details, looking for ID 255 when contacting the vendor"

Checking the event log now and the application error is prevalent throughout the application log, scontoller.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Lotus\Domino) will not start at all saying fault bucket crash etc etc

We also tried starting the 8.5.2 domino console but that also errors with jconsole.exe failed to start, same again in the event viewer, fault bucket etc etc

Anyone else had problems upgrading to 8.5.2? early days I know!

I have resolved this issue now, by trial and error, I had to stop the domino server service and domino diagnostic services befroe attempting to run the new 8.5.2 installer. In my history of 5 years domino experience I have never had to do this with a domino server upgrade.
