Question : Outlook 2007 Freezez up during Spell Check

A co-worker of mine receives an e-mail in Outlook (Office 2007) and replies to it.  He then runs spell check on it and it freezes up his Outlook completely with the little blue circle of death.   He has to terminate the application to get his e-mail open again.  

Any suggestions as too how to fix this.   Also he is running Windows 7 Ultimate (if that makes a difference).
