Question : Dell image restore not working
I'm working on a Dell Inspiron 1521 Laptop for a customer. Windows files were corrupt and it would not boot. I removed the HDD and backed up all the files. I put the HDD back and attempted a DELL system restore to bring it back to factory new condition. I ran a DELL diagnostics routine from setup and the HDD test came back with:
Error code: 0146
Error code: 2000-0146
DST log contains previous error(s)
The image seemed to have worked, but on reboot the repair function kicked in and came back with:
Boot manger failed to find OS loader
Repair action: file repair
Result: Failed
Error code: 0x17
Repair action: Boot configuration data store repair
Result: failed
Error code: 0x2
Does this mean the HDD is trashed? Do I need a new on?
Need answer soon, please.
Thanks.
Answer : Dell image restore not working
The error code mentioned usually refers to a faulty or failed hard drive, I would recommend replacing the drive.
