Question : Internet Browser v.s. Blackberry Browser for default

Hi Experts,

We have BES 5.0 with 20 Tours. In Default Browser Configuration selection, currently we have all users use 'Blackberry Browser' as default. That raises a concern as all browser traffic generated by all handhelds could come into and through our BES in corporate LAN, which is an argument we are not sure. Can you tell me if it is true that using "Blackberry Browser" as the default browser would increase the traffic to the BES in our corporate LAN?

And if using 'Internet Browser' as the default, the handheld's browser traffic will never bother the BES?

Yes it would. The blackberry browser sends all web traffic through your BES and out through any proxies/web filters etc.

If it's security you're worried about you can block access to internal websites. The argument FOR using that method is that all your web policies for desktop users (e.g. explicit sexual websites are blocked) will also apply to your blackberry's.
