Question : Best wireless routers 2010 - Linksys E3000 VS Belkin Play Max Wireless Router VS ASUS RT-N16 Wireless-N

I'm seriously thinking of getting a new wireless router. I need to get one for my parents as I'll be moving house. Hence, I need a wireless router that has a function such as Belkin Play Max's Self Heal which it claims can

automatically detects and resolves network problems and runs routine maintenance scans to give you the clearest wireless channel. If attention is required, a notification will appear right on your screen—no more blinking lights under your desk.

But I'm seriously thinking of getting the ASUS RT-N16 Wireless-N since I've read so many good reviews about it. Does anyone have any experience with this Asus router? Does the internet connection drop out and need to be unplugged, plugged and reset in order to be reconnected again?

Belkin Play Max is more future proof because it supports VPN and gigabit CAT 6 cables whereas Asus RTN16 only supports 10/100 CAT 5 cable and no VPN.

I basically want the best wireless modem router and reliability. I have a three story home and the distance between computers and TV go up to about 15 meters. I'd like to play youtube on TV and download on demand, etc.

Any of these should be fine. The think I do not like about Belkin is that I have never seen a firmware update for any of their routers.

So go with what you need in the next year,, since by then prices will have dropped and new options will be needed that may not be available now.

A lot of  features are never used, and scan/ repair may be totally useless in your environment, so do not be fulled by the extras.
