Question : Linking Mysql having tinyint to Access

Using Access2003 I can link some tables from a MySQL database but those containing Tinyint data type just lock up and do nothing during the linking.  Yet with Excel2003 I seem to be able to query the same table (although I didn't ask for every field)

Any ideas in how to link these tables using Access 2003?
