do you need routing or not? this is a Q for you to answer :) here you can get only hints and recommendations.
so if you are planning to use multiple vlans, then you will need to arrange routing between them. it can be done using your firewall, or switch's L3 routing options.
Combination of both is also possible, because switch can route between subnets, but can't do sophisticated traffic filtering.
If you have only one subnet (hence you have a single vlan) you don't need routing, so you can save some cash for your boss.
