Question : iPhone SIM card question

Hey all,

I have a second generation iPhone I had for work that they let me keep when I left the company. Since my new job won't pay the bill for it, I am going to give the phone to my wife so she can port her number over to it, etc. My old number associated with the phone was suspened and is no longer active. The phone itself currently has no service. My question is...after I wipe the phone, should I be good to go to let my wife use it? Someone from AT&T said I HAD to get a new SIM card first as it links my old number to the device...a few people at work who know the iPhone said that is not true. Guess I am confused here...so if I am giving my iPhone to someone else, should I remove my old SIM and have them get a new SIM? Keep in mind she will be porting over an exisitng account to the device. Thanks!

Answer : iPhone SIM card question

You can put any SIM into any phone (provided the phone is not locked to a particular carrier) and the phone should work just fine.

If your SIM is not working, you will need a working SIM card, so you will have to get one from somewhere to replace the non-working SIM card.

Assuming your wife ports her account across, then she can use her SIM card, so no need to get a new one for the iPhone as your wife should be able to use hers.
