>In the office lan is a Linux webhost named "webserver" it has two NIC cards, one connected to the office LAN/domain and one directly connected to the Internet.
So the linux server has 2 IP Addresses. One on the WAN and one on the LAN.
Lets say the the IP Address of the linux web server on the LAN is 192.168.0.3
You can ping 192.168.0.3 from a workstation - all good
You can possibly even browse to
http://192.168.0.3/ and get your web page
BUT when you goto
http://www.ohprs.org/ you get nothing
As you suggested create an A record in the SBS2008 server for
www.ohprs.org pointing to 192.168.0.3
Use the DNS Management Console.
- If there is already a forward lookup zone for ohprs.org add an A record in there for the internal address of the webserver
- if there is not a forward lookup zone for ohprs.org add the zone
www.ohprs.org. (yes with the www) then add an A record for the webserver. Image attached.
Creating a zone with the WWW will avoid messing up any other lookups for other external hosts in the ohprs.org
