Question : configure samba access to SBS 2008 folders?

I have replaced our SBS 2003 with a new SBS 2008. We have a Linux host in the network. That host used to mount a folder on the SBS server to which it backed up the Linux host (the Linux host is our webserver). When I try to mount the SBS folder from Linux I get:

smbmount //MAIL/webBackup /mnt -o username=webbackup,password=****
cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it.
7892: protocol negotiation failed
SMB connection failed

This has worked fine for years on SBS 2003. Of course, I had to create the user on SBS 2008, and the firewall may be different, but I don't get the SMB signing thing.

Answer : configure samba access to SBS 2008 folders?

I suspect SMB Signing as suggested by the error message - Though this is for 2003, I would suspect it will work on 2008 - I suggest performing a full backup of the 2008 server (ALWAYS perform a full backup before making a major change to your network) and then disable SMB signing through the instructions here: http://simultaneouspancakes.com/Lessons/2004/12/27/how-to-disable-smb-signing-in-sbs-2003/
