Question : Snort configuration problem cannot open rules file

I am running snort 2.7 on ubuntu 8.04 with mysql 5.

When i run the command

snort -c /etc/snort/snort.config

I get the following error

initializing rule chains.
ERROR: unable to open rules file: /etc/snort/snort.config or /etc/snort/snort

Answer : Snort configuration problem cannot open rules file

Have you checked the permissions of the snort.config file and directory /etc/snort
to ensure the user you're using to run snort can read the files?
